How to get lipstick out of carpet

It’s happened to the best of us. You’re getting ready for a night out, you glance in the mirror, and you realize that your lipstick has smeared all over your shirt—and onto your carpet. Now, you have a dilemma on your hands: how do you get lipstick out of carpet? Don’t worry—we’ve got the answer! Let’s break it down.

Step 1: Blot Up as Much Lipstick as Possible

The first step is to blot up as much of the lipstick as possible using a clean cloth or paper towels. Make sure to press firmly when blotting; this will help absorb more of the stain without pushing it further into the carpet fibers. Do not rub or scrub, as this will only spread the stain further and damage the fibers in your carpet.

Step 2: Test Your Cleaning Solution

Once you’ve blotted up most of the stain, it’s time to make a cleaning solution. Start by combining equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl or spray bottle. Test this solution on an inconspicuous area of your carpet first; if it doesn’t cause any discoloration or damage, then you can use it on the stained area.

Step 3: Apply Your Cleaning Solution

If testing reveals no issues with discoloration or fading, apply your cleaning solution directly on top of the stain until fully saturated. Then, use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot up some more of the liquid until most of it is absorbed into the cloth or paper towel. If there is still some residue left behind, repeat steps 2 and 3 until all traces of color are gone from your carpet fibers.

Lipstick stains can be tricky to remove from carpets but don’t despair—they aren’t impossible! By following these three simple steps (blot up excess, test your cleaning solution, and apply), you can easily get lipstick out of carpets quickly and effectively without causing any permanent damage! Good luck!
