plush carpet in a nice bedroom

Is plush carpet good for bedrooms?

One of the ways to achieve this is by installing the right flooring option. With that being said, nothing beats the feeling of stepping out of your bed onto a soft, plush carpet.

However, with so many flooring options available, it can be challenging to decide if plush carpet is a good long-term investment for your home. To help you make this decision, let’s answer the question, “Is plush carpet good for bedrooms?”

Is plush carpet good for bedrooms?

Plush carpet offers a variety of benefits for your bedroom — which can definitely make plush carpet good for your bedroom if you need and enjoy those benefits. To help you make this determination, let’s break down some of the most common benefits of plush carpets in bedrooms.

  • Comfort: The primary reason why plush carpets are popular for bedrooms is the comfort factor. Walking barefoot on a soft and plush carpet feels like bliss, compared to the hard and cold surface of tiles or hardwood flooring. Plush carpets are also great for lounging around, especially if you have kids who love to spend time on the floor.
  • Insulation: Plush carpets act as excellent insulation for your bedroom, keeping it warm in winters and cool in summers. When you step on the carpet, the fibers trap air, creating a layer of insulation that prevents heat loss. This means that you won’t have to rely on heating or cooling as much, reducing your energy bills.
  • Noise Reduction: Plush carpets also address one of the biggest problems associated with hardwood or tile floors – noise. Hard surfaces amplify noise, and you can hear footsteps and voices echoing throughout the room. Plush carpets absorb sound and reduce noise levels, making it the perfect choice for light sleepers or if you have multiple people living in one house.
  • Durability: Plush carpets are not only comfortable but also durable, making them a long-term investment. The fibers used in plush carpets are sturdy, and the density of the pile determines its resistance to wear and tear. If you choose the right carpet, it can last for years without any signs of damage, making it well worth the investment.
  • Style Statement: Finally, plush carpets come in a wide range of styles and colors, allowing you to create the perfect look for your bedroom. Whether you’re looking for a muted tone that complements your decor or a bold color that makes a statement, plush carpets have it all. You can choose from a variety of materials, patterns, and textures to create a bedroom that’s uniquely yours.

The Different Types of Plush Carpet

There are many types of plush carpet available, which means you can choose one that best suits your needs and preferences.

For example, cut pile plush carpet is made by cutting the loops of a carpet’s fibers, leaving a smooth surface. This type of carpet is dense and durable and can retain its appearance over time.

Saxony plush carpet, on the other hand, has longer fibers that create a more luxurious appearance. This type of carpet can be susceptible to marks or footprints but is perfect for giving your bedroom that plush and opulent look.

Maintaining Your Plush Carpet

Like any flooring option, plush carpet requires regular maintenance to ensure it stays in good condition. Vacuuming your carpet regularly can help remove dirt, dust, and other debris that can cause damage over time. It’s also essential to address any spills or stains quickly to prevent them from setting into the carpet fibers.

Additionally, you can consider hiring a professional carpet cleaner to deep clean your carpet every 12 to 18 months to maintain its appearance and extend its lifespan.

Other Considerations when Choosing Plush Carpet

When choosing plush carpet for your bedroom, it’s essential to consider other factors besides comfort and style. For example, you should consider your budget, the durability of different carpet types, and the carpet’s resistance to wear and tear. In many cases, plush carpet is often more expensive than other carpets — but again, it can be more comfortable, look better, and sometimes last longer.

Is carpet flooring good or bad?

When it comes to flooring, you have numerous options to choose from. Each type of flooring has its own benefits and drawbacks, which can make it tough to decide which one is right for you.

One of the options, of course, is carpet flooring. While some people swear by carpet, others can’t stand it. But is carpet flooring good or bad and is it the right flooring choice for you? Let’s discuss.

1. Comfort

Carpet flooring is often hailed as one of the most comfortable flooring options, and for good reason. It’s soft, plush, and warm, providing a cozy feeling underfoot. It can be especially beneficial in colder climates, where it can help insulate your home and keep it warm. Plus, if you have kids who love to crawl and play on the floor, carpet is great for cushioning their tumbles. On the other hand, some people might find carpet uncomfortable due to allergies, dust, or simply because they prefer harder flooring surfaces.

2. Maintenance

One of the main complaints people have about carpet flooring is how difficult it is to maintain. It can easily trap dirt, stains, and odors, making it look dingy and unkempt. However, with regular vacuuming and spot cleaning, you can prevent these issues from becoming too problematic.

Additionally, newer carpet materials are designed to be more stain-resistant and easy to clean, reducing the maintenance burden. So, if you’re willing to put in a little effort to keep your carpet looking fresh, you can maintain its overall appearance and keep it looking great for many years.

3. Cost

Cost is always a factor when it comes to flooring, and carpet is no exception. Generally speaking, carpet is one of the most affordable options – especially when compared to optionns such as hardwood or tile.

However, there are a wide variety of carpets available, ranging from ultra-cheap to premium-quality plush options.

The type of carpet you choose will ultimately determine its price, so you can find something that fits your budget and lifestyle. Keep in mind that cheap carpet, though budget-friendly, may not hold up as well in the long run, so it may be worth going for a higher-quality option and investing in its long-term durability.

4. Style

Another advantage of carpet flooring is its versatility. You can find carpets in a huge range of styles, colors, and patterns, allowing you to truly customize your home’s aesthetic. Carpet can also add warmth and coziness to any room, making it feel more inviting and comfortable. That being said, you’ll want to make sure you choose a carpet style that suits your  lifestyle and practical needs, as well as complements your overall home decor.

5. Health Concerns

Some people avoid carpet flooring due to health concerns. For example, carpet can trap allergens like pet dander, dust mites, and pollen, which can be problematic for people with allergies or respiratory sensitivities. Additionally, mold and mildew can grow in damp carpet areas, leading to further health risks. However, if you maintain your carpet well, keep it dry, and use a quality HEPA vacuum cleaner or hire professional carpet cleaning services to rid the carpet of allergens, you can minimize the health risks.

As you can see, carpet flooring has both pros and cons. Ultimately, it’s up to you to weigh these factors and decide whether carpet is the right flooring option for your needs. If you’re looking for comfort, versatility, and affordability, carpet may be a great choice. However, if you’re concerned about maintenance, health risks, or wanting a harder flooring surface, it may be worth considering other options. The best course of action is to consult your flooring specialist for personalized advice on the best flooring for your unique home and lifestyle needs.

How do I estimate carpet installation?

When it’s time to replace your carpet, one of the biggest expenses you will face is the cost of installation. While some of the installation tasks can be done by you, it’s always best to entrust a professional to ensure the overall quality of the job.

But, as a homeowner, estimating the cost for carpet installation can be overwhelming. That being said, it’s not as hard as you think it is — if you know what to factor in.

To help you out, let’s break down the question, “How do I estimate carpet installation?”

1. Measure the Square Footage of the Rooms

The first thing you need to do is measure the square footage of the room(s) where the new carpet will be installed. It’s essential to get accurate measurements because some carpet styles are only available in certain widths.

To measure, use a tape measure and measure the length and width of each room, rounding up to the nearest foot. Multiply the length by the width to get the square footage. Do this for each room, and then add the square footage of each room together to get the total square footage.

2. Determine What Type of Carpet You Will Need

The type of carpet you choose will affect the installation cost. There are different styles, fibers, and padding to choose from, and each has its own price range.

The more expensive and thicker the carpet, the more it will cost to install. So, select the carpet that fits your budget and style. Remember that higher-end carpets probably have a lower installation cost since their superior quality makes them easier to install.

3. Calculate the Cost of Installation

Once you know the square footage and the type of carpet you want to install, you can now determine the cost of the installation. Most companies charge per square foot of carpet, with an additional cost per step for stairs.

The average cost for installation ranges from $1.50-$4.50 per square foot. Also, consider the cost of any necessary additional services, such as removing and disposing of the old carpet, cleaning the area, or furniture moving.

4. Find a Trusted Professional Installer

It’s essential to choose an experienced and trusted professional to install your carpet. Look for reviews and recommendations from friends or family at your local home improvement store. Compare several contractors’ estimates before making a decision to ensure that you are getting the best price and quality.

5. Opt for Bundles

If you’re planning to install carpet in multiple rooms, ask if the carpet installation company has any special bundle deals. Going for a bundled installation deal with multiple rooms, services, or products can be cheaper than individually buying everything. You may also receive discounts if you buy installation and products from the same company.

There are many design options available, so the prices will vary based on your preferred look. Laminate is also relatively easy to maintain and clean, which can save you money on cleaning products and services.

3. Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is a classic and timeless choice that can increase the value of a home significantly. However, it’s also one of the most expensive flooring options. The cost of hardwood flooring installation ranges from $8 to $14 per square foot, and the cost of the material can range from $4 to $12 per square foot. Due to the installation cost, hardwood flooring installation can be two to three times more expensive than the cost of materials alone.

4. Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl flooring has come a long way in recent years and now comes in a variety of styles and patterns that can mimic the look of hardwood or tile. The cost of vinyl flooring installation ranges from $1 to $5 per square foot, and the cost of the material can range from $1 to $5 per square foot. Depending on the quality of the product, vinyl flooring can be the most cost-effective flooring option.

It’s also to keep in mind that some flooring options last longer than others and some options may be considered a better investment than others.

How often should carpets be cleaned professionally?

Carpets are a great addition to any home or office, adding comfort and style to any space. But carpets are also magnets for dirt, dust, and other debris, which means that if you want to keep your carpets looking their best, they need regular cleaning.

But how often should carpets be cleaned professionally? And what benefits can you get out of professional carpet cleaning? Let’s take a look.

The Frequency of Professional Cleaning

To maintain the life of your carpet and keep it looking its best, experts recommend getting your carpets professionally cleaned at least once every 12-18 months. This frequency may vary depending on the type of carpet you have and how much traffic it gets (i.e., if you have pets or children who run around the house all day).

However, if you find yourself in need of a more frequent cleanings schedule due to heavy foot traffic or pet accidents, there is no harm in getting your carpets professionally cleaned more than once per year.

Benefits of Professional Cleaning

Professional carpet cleaning has several benefits over DIY or store-bought solutions.

The first is that professional cleaners generally use stronger equipment and more powerful detergents than those available in stores. This means that the clean will be deeper and more thorough than anything you can do with a store-bought solution.

In addition, professional cleaners often have access to specialized tools such as steam cleaners and rotary scrubbers that can help dissolve dirt and grime deep within your carpet’s fibers.

Finally, many professional cleaners offer additional services such as deodorizing treatments or stain protection that can help extend the life of your carpet even further.

Routine Maintenance

In addition to professional cleaning services, there are several things you can do on a regular basis to maintain the appearance and health of your carpets.

  • Vacuum regularly (at least once a week) using an upright vacuum with a rotating brush attachment for deeper cleaning power.
  • Pay extra attention to high-traffic areas such as hallways and entryways where dirt tends to accumulate quickly.
  • Spot clean any spills or stains immediately using a mild detergent solution; don’t rub or scrub too hard as this can damage the fibers of the carpeting.
  • If possible, place area rugs or mats at entry points into your home to prevent outside dirt from getting tracked onto your carpets.

Installing new carpet in your home or office can be a pretty hefty investment — so it only makes sense to take care of them and have them professionally cleaned at least once every 12-18 months. Professional cleaning not only provides deeper cleaner results, but also offers additional services such as deodorizing treatments or stain protection that can help extend the life of your carpet even further. By taking advantage of these services offered by professionals, you can extend the life of your carpet and keep it looking nicer for much longer.

6 basement carpet ideas you need to hear

Are you planning on installing new carpet in your basement and looking for a few solid basement carpet ideas? If so, we’ve got you covered. We’ve laid out 6 of our must-have basement carpet tips with some great ideas along the way.

1. Consider the Use of Your Basement

The first thing you need to do is think about how you plan to use your basement. Will it be a playroom for the kids? A home office? A bedroom for guests? The answer to this question will help narrow down your choices for carpeting. For example, if you’re looking for a basement carpet that can withstand heavy traffic, you’ll want to choose a durable option like berber or looped styles. But if you’re looking for something that’s more cozy and inviting, plush or frieze carpets might be a better option.

2. Choose the Right Color Carpet

Once you know how you plan to use your basement, it’s time to start thinking about color. If your basement is on the smaller side, lighter colors can help make the space feel bigger and brighter. But if your basement is large and open, darker colors can help create a cozier atmosphere. You’ll also want to consider any existing furniture or décor in the space when choosing a color. For example, if your basement has a lot of dark wood furniture, lighter colors might be a good option to balance things out. Or if your space is already pretty bright, darker colors can help tone things down a bit.

3. Get Creative with Patterns

If you really want your basement carpeting project to stand out, get creative with patterns! There are so many fun and unique patterned carpets available these days that there’s sure to be one that fits your style perfectly. From geometric shapes to floral designs, there are endless possibilities when it comes to patterns. And don’t forget about stripes! Striped carpets are always a popular choice for basements because they add visual interest and can help elongate the space. Just be sure to choose a stripe width that compliments the size of your room; too thin and it might look busy, too thick and it could overwhelm the space.

4. Consider Your Budget

Of course, one of the most important considerations when choosing carpeting for your basement is budget. Carpeting can range in price from very affordable to quite pricey, so it’s important to set a budget before beginning your search. Once you know how much you’re willing (and able) to spend on your project, you can start narrowing down your options based on price point. And don’t forget about installation costs! Depending on the type of carpeting you choose and the size of your basement, installation could end up being a fairly significant expense. Once you’ve decided on a material, you can start narrowing down your options based on color, pattern, and price point until you find the perfect fit for your project.

6. Think About Durability

If there will be high traffic in your basement or if you have kids or pets who will be using the space regularly, durability should be one of your top priorities when choosing carpeting. You’ll want to select a material that can withstand heavy use without showing too much wear and tear over time; nylon and polypropylene are both good options for high-traffic areas. You’ll also want to choose a style that won’t show dirt or stains easily; looped or textured styles are typically good choices for hiding dirt.

Carpeting your basement can be a great way to improve the look and feel of the space. When choosing a carpet, keep in mind the type of space you have and how much foot traffic it gets. carpet padding

What is the best carpet pad?

When it comes to making your home as comfortable and cozy as possible, it’s important to pay attention to all of the small details. One detail that can make a big difference in both comfort and style is the carpet padding underneath your carpets. The right carpet pad can help keep your carpets looking new for longer, minimize wear and tear, add additional comfort underfoot, reduce sound levels, and even provide insulation benefits. But what is the best carpet pad? Let’s break it down.

Types of Carpet Padding

When it comes to selecting a carpet pad, there are several options available. Each type offers different benefits and drawbacks, so it’s important to consider what type of pad will work best in each area of your home. Here are some of the most popular types of carpet padding:

Foam Padding

Foam padding is one of the most common types of cushioning used with carpets. It provides extra cushioning and helps protect against wear and tear on the carpet fibers. Foam pads also come in a variety of densities so you can choose how much cushioning you want underfoot. The downside is that foam pads are not as durable as other types of padding and may need to be replaced more often if they become worn or stained.

Keep Reading: How much does it cost to replace carpet in one room?

Rebond Padding

Rebond padding consists of recycled materials including rubber particles which are bonded together using adhesives. This type of padding is more durable than foam but still provides a good amount of cushioning for your feet when walking on carpets. Rebond pads are also water-resistant which makes them less prone to staining than other types of padding.

Waffle Rubber Pad

Waffle rubber pads offer more durability than foam or rebond but less cushioning than those options. This makes waffle rubber an ideal choice for areas where extra cushioning isn’t necessary but you still want some protection from wear and tear on your carpets as well as noise reduction benefits from the added thickness beneath them.

Choosing the right carpet pad can make a big difference in how long your carpets look new and how comfortable they feel underfoot. Consider all aspects such as durability, thickness, sound absorption, insulation benefits, water resistance, etc., when selecting the best type for each room in your house. With a little bit of research you should be able to find one that fits both your needs and budget perfectly!

3 lipsticks on a counter

How to get lipstick out of carpet

It’s happened to the best of us. You’re getting ready for a night out, you glance in the mirror, and you realize that your lipstick has smeared all over your shirt—and onto your carpet. Now, you have a dilemma on your hands: how do you get lipstick out of carpet? Don’t worry—we’ve got the answer! Let’s break it down.

Step 1: Blot Up as Much Lipstick as Possible

The first step is to blot up as much of the lipstick as possible using a clean cloth or paper towels. Make sure to press firmly when blotting; this will help absorb more of the stain without pushing it further into the carpet fibers. Do not rub or scrub, as this will only spread the stain further and damage the fibers in your carpet.

Step 2: Test Your Cleaning Solution

Once you’ve blotted up most of the stain, it’s time to make a cleaning solution. Start by combining equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl or spray bottle. Test this solution on an inconspicuous area of your carpet first; if it doesn’t cause any discoloration or damage, then you can use it on the stained area.

Step 3: Apply Your Cleaning Solution

If testing reveals no issues with discoloration or fading, apply your cleaning solution directly on top of the stain until fully saturated. Then, use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot up some more of the liquid until most of it is absorbed into the cloth or paper towel. If there is still some residue left behind, repeat steps 2 and 3 until all traces of color are gone from your carpet fibers.

Lipstick stains can be tricky to remove from carpets but don’t despair—they aren’t impossible! By following these three simple steps (blot up excess, test your cleaning solution, and apply), you can easily get lipstick out of carpets quickly and effectively without causing any permanent damage! Good luck!
